Answer

Slime’s tyre sealants coat the inside of the tyre (or tube) within the tread area, allowing the product to seal tread area punctures. When the tyre is punctured, the escaping air carries the sealant to the puncture. The liquid portion of the sealant escapes and the fibres and binders build-up and intertwine to form a flexible plug. This will allow the product to instantly seal punctures that occur in the tread area.

Answer

Emergency Tyre Sealant (yellow label) is designed for use on highway vehicles experiencing a flat tyre emergency. It seals punctures up to ¼” instantly so you can quickly and safely get your vehicle back on the road and off to a tyre repair station. Slime’s Emergency Tyre Sealant is not a long-term solution. You should remove the formula within 3 days or 100 miles.

Answer

Thru-Core offers the latest in flat tyre repair technology because it injects the sealant through the valve stem (no need to remove the valve core!). Thru-Core is tyre sensor safe and an alternate air source of your choice is required.

Answer

2-in-1 Tire & Tube Premium Sealant (black label)formula takes out the guesswork! Does your tyre have a tube inside, or is it tubeless? Who cares?! This new sealant works in all off-highway tyres and tubes to prevent and repair flat tyres for up to two years.

Answer

Prevent and Repair Tyre Sealant (blue label) formula is for use on non-highway tubeless tyre and can be pre-installed to prevent flat tyres for 2 years on trailers, ATVs, mowers, tractors, wheelbarrows and much more!

Answer

Prevent and Repair Sealant for Tubes (red label) formula is designed to be used on tyres with inner tubes (bicycles, scooters, strollers, etc.). Pre-install into your tubes to prevent flat tyres for 2 years!

Answer

When you look inside the top of the tyre valve, you will see a metal cylinder in the very centre. This is the valve core. To install Slime, use the black valve core removal tool on the cap of the bottle to slowly twist the valve core counter-clockwise. Allow the air to slowly escape before removing the core completely. After installing Slime, replace the valve core and re-inflate the tyre. If you are using Thru-Core, you should not remove the valve core before installation.

Answer

Slime Tube Sealant will seal punctures up to ⅛” (3mm). The puncture must occur in the tread area of the tyre since Slime cannot reach or seal punctures outside of the tread area. Slime will not seal large punctures.

Answer

The Slime sealant may not have adequately sealed on the first attempt. We recommend checking the tire for puncturing objects, removing any if found, re-inflating the tire and immediately rotating it. This forces the sealant to flow around the inner tube and allow it to locate and repair the puncture. Slime’s tube sealant is not guaranteed to seal gashes from glass or metal, bead leaks, sidewall punctures or pinch flats. Be sure to check your valve to ensure air loss is not occurring at this source.

Answer

No. This red label Tube sealant formula does not contain the rust and corrosion inhibitors necessary to protect a tubeless wheel. We do not recommend or guarantee performance of the product in this application. But Slime does offer a NEW 2-in-1 Tyre Tube sealant (black label) that will work in a tubeless tyre, or a tyre with a tube. Same great Slime two year protection, with more flexibility!

Answer

Slime Tyre Sealant will seal punctures up to ¼” (6mm). The puncture must occur in the tread area of the tyre since Slime cannot reach or seal punctures outside of the tread area. Slime will not seal bead leaks or large punctures. If you are installing Slime to repair an existing puncture, we recommend checking the tire for puncturing objects and removing any if found. Re-inflate the tire and immediately rotate it. This forces the sealant to flow around the inner tube or tire allowing it to locate and repair the puncture. Be sure to check your valve to ensure air loss is not occurring at this source. Slime is intended to be used as a temporary emergency repair in passenger vehicles.

Answer

We do not recommend using our sealant formulas outside of their intended applications. Slime’s blue label tubeless sealant utilizes a blend of rubber particles and fibres to treat large punctures in a multi-ply tyre. The rubber particles are too large to effectively treat small punctures in a thin-ply tube. But Slime does offer a NEW 2-in-1 Tyre & Tube sealant (black label) that will work in a tubeless tyre, or a tyre with a tube. Same great Slime two year protection, with more flexibility!

Answer

We do not recommend installing Slime into quiet tyres. The tread area of a quiet tyre is coated with a layer of foam. If the sealant is installed, it will be instantly absorbed into the foam, rendering it unable to reach and treat the puncture. The sealant will also likely result in tyre vibrations. Additionally, there is no way to remove the sealant from the foam and the tyre will likely need to be replaced.

Answer

We do not recommend installing Slime into run flat tyres. Run flat tyres are not designed for tyre sealant as the run flat tyre structure was specifically created to indicate a flat and still be safe to drive on for a short period of time. Additionally, some run flat tyres have a foam insert to help support the run flat concept. If the tyre does have the foam insert, sealant will be absorbed in the foam and will not reach the puncture hole.

Answer

Slime Thru-Core Sealant will seal punctures up to ¼” (6mm). The puncture must occur in the tread area of the tyre since Slime cannot reach or seal punctures outside of the tread area. Slime will not seal bead leaks or large punctures. If you are installing Slime to repair an existing puncture, we recommend checking the tyre for puncturing objects and removing any if found. Re-inflate the tyre and immediately rotate it. This forces the sealant to flow around the tyre allowing it to locate and repair the puncture. Be sure to check your valve to ensure air loss is not occurring at this source. Slime is intended to be used as a temporary emergency repair in passenger vehicles.

Answer

No. Thru-Core sealant is designed to be installed with the valve core in place. If the valve core is removed, the sealant will not be able to dispense.

Answer

No. Thru-Core Emergency tyre Sealant can be installed even if there is some air inside the tyre.

Answer

No. The propellant in our Thru-Core sealant is only intended to install the sealant into your tyre. You will need a separate source of air to inflate the tyre after installation.

Answer

Slime Thru-Core cans (#60186 and #60187) will last for two years from date of manufacturing when stored in a cool, dry place. The current product date stamp on your green can should look like this: 20294 AT 0054 The first 2 digits tell you the year that the product was manufactured (2020) The next 3 digits tell you the day of the year that the product was manufactured (the 294th day of the year) The next set of letters and numbers is batch code information for internal use In this case, the date of manufacture is October 20, 2020. The can would be good until October of 2022.
